Istvan Szabo
Istvan Szabo
Vice-Rector of Education and Foreign Affairs at Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), Hungary.
Research Interests: Computer-Aided Engineering and Intelligent Manufacturing Mechanical Design.

Professor István Szabó graduated from Gödöllö University as a mechanical engineer. During his training program he spent multiple semesters at the Goryachkin Agricultural Technical University in Moscow, Russia and at the Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Since his graduation he has been involved in teaching and research activities at different levels of university positions at SzentIstvan University, Godöllö, Hungary (Predecessor of MATE, The Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences). In 1991 he received his Doctor of University degree and later in 2001 a PhD degree in the field of technical sciences. In the year of 2008 he has been awarded the dr. habil. (habilitated doctor) degree. Since 2005 he has been serving as the Director of the Institute of Mechanics and Machinery (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering) and during the period of 2008-2016 he was the Dean of the Faculty, while between 2016 and 2018 he was appointed as the vice rector for International Relations at Szent István University. Today he has the position of the vice rector of Education and Foreign Affairs at MATE and also serves as the director of MATE's Institute of Technology. His teaching and research field includes computer-aided engineering and machine design.
